Equipment
Drivers sit behind the pony in what is called a sulky or gig. This is a two wheel contraption that has long arms that attach to the pony’s harness. These can be made from wood traditionally but now aluminum.

Wheel sizes vary dependant on size of the pony

Pony tack
Mini trot ponies wear specific harness equipment and tack to enable the sulky to be attached to it. Made from leather and cloth, the harness goes over its back and around its belly to which it is securely fastened. The bridle is as with a normal riding bridal however it has extra long reins attached so the driver can hold onto them and control the pony from the sulky.
